The Rise of the Queens

The Rise of the Queens is a fusion of traditional East-African dancing, Afro-Brazilian fight-dances and Menard Mponda’s own music and choreographies inspired by stories about three African Queens of water. They are said to be present in the everyday life of all women. In the same way as water can be the symbol of life and death, the mythical queens are not only characters, but symbols of the various dimensions of life.

Harjoittelijan haavissa ­sarja saa jatkoa! Kauden 2 osa 1: Antti Kujanpää

Villa Karon kevätkausi 2016 on pyörähtänyt käyntiin vilkkaissa merkeissä. Tupa on vierashuonetta myöten täynnä toinen toistaan mielenkiintoisimpien projektien toteuttajia, joten aika on mitä otollisin Santeri Kaipiaisen viime vuonna aloittaman Harjoittelijan haavissa ­juttusarjan jatkamiselle. Ensimmäisenä harjoittelijan jututettavaksi istahti muusikko Antti Kujanpää, joka itseään luonnehtii kalliolaiseksi musiikin sekatyöläiseksi. Kerran viikossa Antti toimii musiikinopettajana. Muu aika puolestaan kuluu moninaisten projektien parissa, keikoilla ja keikoille valmistautuessa.

Villa Karoon Antti päätyi tuttavuuksien kautta, sillä useita hänen suomalaisia ystäviään oli aiemmin käynyt täällä.

The Beninese-Finnish jazz group Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble (HCE) has been eagerly expected to tour in Finland and Europe to deliver us a truckload of groove again this summer in support of their award winning and highly praised sophomore album Fire, Sweat and Pastis.
