Villa Karon kevätkausi 2013 on alkamassa ja ensimmäiset residenssiin saapuvat ovat jo matkustaneet Beniniin, joten lienee aika jatkaa beniniläisen ranskan kurssiamme! Tällä kertaa käännetään Beninissä ja Togossa käytettyjä lausahduksia suomeksi. Osaa onkin käsitelty jo edellisissä osissa, ja mainio kokoelma löytyi täältä. Fraaseissa kaikuvat esimerkiksi yleiset ”il faut”-rakenteet (pitää tehdä se ja se) sekä valkoihoisiin kohdistetut huomionosoitukset, ja myös erilaiset toivotukset ja viisaudet. Lisäksi hyvinkin moni liittyy mopotaksin eli zemidjanin ottamiseen.

Journalist Timo Sipola and the VK trainee Maikki Salmivaara visited the eleventh edition of the international film festival of Ouidah.

Film Festival Quintessence, initiative of the Paris-based Beninese director Jean Odoutan, took place between 8th and 13th of January 2013. In addition to the four canvases of Ouidah, movies were projected simultaneously in Cotonou, Parakou and Porto Novo.

At the beach of Grand-Popo, we come across an average of fifty dead turtles annually, most of which have been hit by the ships and tankers navigating the waters of the Guinean Gulf or having choked on plastic bags.
